My son got me up at 5am, let the missus have a lie in, little did she know I was up and watching Raw 25.

No spoilers here, other than to say nobody came off as a big winner considering we are heading in to Wrestlemania season. The go home show for one of the Big 4 normally develops or hypes a match or two.

This was pure nostalgia.

I thought the Miz obviously getting a win over Roman to take back the IC title was good, especially as he appeared to outsmart him.

Elias got a great rub by planting John Cena, and getting an interaction with Jericho. Rare to see stars of that calibre allowing a newbie to get over on them.

Outside of that it was hard work to fathom why Bray and Matt Hardy's feud was apparently buried in a 5 minute clean finish match.

Why the Revival's return was derailed so aggressively by DX and the Balor Club, surly anyone could have taken that beating.

Then the final segment making Braun look strong again took away any doubt that Brock retains at the rumble by pinning Kane.

The Undertakers heavily promoted return wasn't really anything.

I was left pretty disappointed, but for all the little segments bringing back old favourites for 20 seconds of interaction.

Wasn't it odd that if you have Y2J (arguably the hottest thing in wrestling) you wouldn't send him out for the crowd?

As you said. It was pure nostalgia.
It was also a little too lose for comfort to the Rumble and any major surprises involving veteran wrestlers will be saved for then.
I must admit, I was also surprised the way the Revival were dealt with, but I am sure they will come back.
In a way it is a bit like a previous thread. It involved wrestlers not seen for a long time and they are never going to turn up and lose so it really didn't happen.

Interesting end to HITC.

Love the soap opera dynamic of Owens and Zayne.

They headline Mania one day, and they'll be able to tell a hell of a story.

1.) 10 Oct 2017 20:59:20
Don't think so because Kevin Owens is not really main event guy.

Despite become fairly disinterested in WWE, I find myself being keen for Summerslam and NXT, the breaks done me good.

Few matches that look good on paper, its a loaded card, I suppose this is the 2nd biggest show of the year.

Great stuff from all three brands, let's hope they deliver.

1.) 20 Aug 2017 14:47:05
Well, Takeover delivered. Hope Summerslam can do the same.
Loved Aleister Black's entrance.

2.) 22 Aug 2017 10:46:16
I think they did pretty good.

Anyone got any plans for the showcase of the immortals (I'm not having the Ultimate Thrill ride) this weekend?

I'm off to the Attack! Pro Wrestling show in Walkabout, Cardiff wear they will screen the Grandaddy of them all after the show.

Big wazz up.

1.) 30 Mar 2017 21:19:27
Walking Dead season finale and the Cubs season opener.

I'll watch some of Mania before that stuff starts and then during when they have overlapping comercials. With the rest getting watched after.

Bessex, have a good night on Sunday and stay safe in enemy territory (as a Bristol City Fan in Cardiff lol)

I am a boring sod now so I'll probably just watch it in Monday after work.

I am interested to know what people think of Dave Meltzer, I noticed he got mentioned further down the page on another thread.

I have become addicted to the Something To Wrestle With Podcast, and Bruce Prichard laughs off the claims Meltzer makes every week.

Isn’t all this backstage “reporting” the same as what we do on here? He was just doing it first?

1.) 23 Mar 2017 13:30:22
He's ok. He's got an annoying voice but he seems to be the best of the 'Wrestling Journalists'

If I watch any Wrestling News stuff on YouTube it tends to be WhatCulture, Meltzer and Alvarez, or Wrestling With Wregret

They're all pretty decent.

2.) 23 Mar 2017 20:16:48
It's understandable that people go to Meltzer about rumors, because he's the OG of them, but his opinions about WWE talent are usually horrible. You can tell he doesn't know or care about any of them that didn't spend time working for New Japan, and even then none of them will ever hold a candle to his favorite 6 star ladyboys.

Alvarez is good for a post shite ppv rant but I'm not going to go out of my way to listen to him or any other podcasters/ vloggers on a regular basis.

Even "reputable" rumor sources like Wrestling Observer still only get stuff right about 50% of the time, and even that's inflated by 'WWE is going to try to make Reigns look strong' like rumors. So I try to avoid getting worked up about any rumor and remember that any booking decision Vince/ HHH want to keep secret, doesn't go past the family's ears and eyes.

3.) 24 Mar 2017 10:29:27
I follow him on Twitter and he does seem very knowledgeable about the history of wrestling. He does seem quite up with what is currently going on inside WWE and he seemed to know the Wrestlemania in January but then again so did all of us.

The way he talks about WWE he seems in the know but I suppose he makes a living off of it so he has to look that way.

4.) 24 Mar 2017 11:34:13
I actually rely on you guys to break rumours more than I read any sites.

I have been reading Lords of Pain since before I had the internet, so read that out of habit, but that is more confirmed stuff rather than speculation.

5.) 24 Mar 2017 20:27:28
I suspect that the WWE see Meltzer as a safe outlet and so will spoon-feed him certain tit-bits knowing that he won't abuse their generosity.

I am too big a fan of the New Day to see them broken up, I'd rather see them recruit a new member and push on as a top top faction.

I have stated a few times that I see Big E as a potential World Champion, if they cut back the jokes and just focus on how strong he is it seems believable he could take out anyone.

Xavier has all the makings of a workhorse US champ, he could put on longer midcard matches every week.

Then the right tag team partner could keep Kofi working for another few years.

The best factions always get to at least have a little run where all the members hold gold, I see the New Day as being able to do that.

The only question is who would join, and there is a massive argument for it not to be a black guy, just to cut back on the idea that the New Day is a black faction, as opposed to a faction where the members happen to be black.

Does Zack Ryder fulfil the criteria of being a fun loving brightly coloured established superstar?

I could see him tagging with Kofi as part of a mega face faction.

Then eventually one of them gets greedy and turns making them an even bigger star again.

There is so much to happen before we get to a post Mania draft, but on the face of it I think I'd like to see the guys capable of putting on a five star match pooled in Smackdown, and the Superstars/ entertainers pushed on Raw.

Rollins, Balor, and The Miz to Smackdown

Rusev, Corbin, and Jinder to Raw

Promote Gargano and Chiampa to SD, and the Authors of Pain to Raw.

He had a good night.

I am not sure if he has what it takes to be the man on Raw.

The Raw champion needs that look, I can only see Brock, Roman, Cena, and Braun holding the Universal title in the next 12 months, they won't hand it over to the little guys yet.

Which could make for an awesome IC title scene with Miz, Seth, and Fin going to war for it.

I see Elias as a long term Raw top guy, he has that look they love.

Any or all of them could be the top guy on Smackdown, sadly SD is still treated as a second tier show, so their champions can be workers rather than Superstars.

I don't think AJ would be treated with any more respect on Raw than Rollins or Finn get.

Was AJ a great heel?

I remember her being good at the classic pro wrestling gimmick for hot girls of being nice as pie and occasionally showing off the crazy eyes.

I guess I remember AJ being part of the era of women's wrestling I consider to be a bit meh.

I thought it during the Rumble when they were rolling out "legends", they were never any good.

Roman still generates a lot of noise, exactly like Cena, cheers and boos, but that's much better from an atmosphere point of view than the way the audience sit on their hands for half the show.

Someone the wrestling fans love like Sami just doesn't get a reaction like Roman does.

Boo or cheer, just care.
