Reports are starting to come out that WWE will be buying the rights to TNA's video library, presumably the TNA name, and possibly several of the talent. Billy Corgan will reportedly become the new majority owner and rebrand the company.

If it goes down the way it's being reported, it sounds like it's a win-win for wrestlers and fans.

If WWE buy the library, the name, and the best of the talent, what exactly is Billy buying?

He would just be a guy with a ring and a title belt?

You could get that for a lot cheaper than the multimillions TNA is allegedly worth.

I don't see TNA being serious competition. Ever.

They'll get to continue on as a company. They'll just have to change the names of things and won't be able to show their past. So they're essentially getting a semi-ready wrestling organization with a tv deal.

There's been rumors that Smackdown could end up with a Cruiserweight division as well. With the TNA stuff potentially happening, I'd love it if they did the X Division on SD instead. Make it a steppingstone between Cruiserweight and Heavyweight divisions.

I'm not sure what the gig is with wrestlers contracts if WWE acquires TNA?

The WWE can just pick them up as their deals end anyway.

I'm pretty sure nobody has been handcuffed to TNA, as they all work for someone else as well.

Its almost Independent.
