Now, I haven't watched Smackdown I have only read the results. But It seems a given that it is going to be Shane Vs AJ at Mania but the way it was worded leaves it open. Shane said at the end, according to the results I have read "AJ now has an opponent for Wrestlemania 33". At no point did Shane say it was him and its not advertised on WWE. com. I know i'm clutching at straws but could Shane have someone up his sleeve to take his place?

It was a poor episode. They spent way to much time on the womens division and too much time setting up the attack by Styles. I'd recommend just watching the Styles attack itself and the Orton/ Wyatt stuff on youtube. Miz and Maryse had some interesting things to say as well but the segment got very cringe worthy when their mixed tag match was made official and Cena and Nikki were celebrating it like it was the greatest news they ever had. The sad thing is, if the rumors are true that Cena is going to propose to Nikki after the match. Everything Miz has been saying, goes from being a "shoot" to just being the truth.

The only way I see them doing someone besides Shane is if they do an injury angle where doctors won't allow him to compete and he or DB has to choose an opponent for Styles. doesn't look likely though.

I see on the WWE website they are still selling the fact that Styles has been fired. Is this their way of getting him over to RAW after Mania. I know its been heavily rumoured to try and get the RAW ratings up. Seems a bit odd if it is. A trade would be better so Smackdown get some talent back.

Both shows did angles with GMs trying to fire someone, so I wouldn't be surprised if that sets up a big post-Mania trade. They could still end up doing the rumored draft around June and have it be a semi-supplemental draft like they had the last few years ECW was around. RAW and SD get people ready to get called up from NXT and NXT gets some veterans to fill their roster and be wrestler/ coaches and some younger talent that could use a reboot.

I would prefer the draft take place the night after Mania. that's the night they normally hit the reset button on everything and bring a few in from NXT so it just makes sense to do it then.

I still have it in the back of my head Daniel Bryan will return at some point. It would break the internet if he was going take on AJ for Shane.

I am sure his match will be with Miz though.

As for he draft, I think they should use it as a tool to extend "Wrestlemania season" by announcing it for the first show in May.

Then booking the next month full of potential trades, call ups signings, and firings.

Couple of things from Smackdown.
Firstly is it just me or are Miz and Maryse coming across almost as faces in their interactions with Cena and Nikki? All the points made seem justified and Cena and Nikki's responses almost vindicates Miz.
Secondly I love how invested Wyatt is in his character, the supernatural elements could come across as silly to a modern audience but he delivers them with such commitment. He is a true highlight of the show for me.

Finally- If they play up the firing of Styles angle, how great would it be if they appoint Kurt Angle as the new Raw GM the night after WM and he says that his first act is to introduce the hottest free agent and the best wrestler in the world today as the newest member of Raw, then out walks Styles.
