So we now know how the main event at Fastlane will pan out.
Zyan and Owens will turn on each other and fight either into the crowd or the backstgae area. Ziggler and Corbin will be there for big spots, someone's going through a table.
Then just as Cena thinks he has title won. BONG. lights go out, back on Taker is in the ring, chokeslam-Tombstone and points to the Wrestlemania sign.
Styles gets the pin, we then have 3 confirmed matches for Mania (very very lazy booking using one match to set up three) .
1.) 01 Mar 2018 10:20:26
I agree that Styles is likely to retain the title. I don't think that they are going to jeopadise his match against Nakamura at Mania.
It is also likely that Owens will face Zayn, but I can see Zayn pretending to lie down before turning the move on KO.
I am not convinced that Taker will return. I know rumours are flying around that he has not been passed fit and that Mysterio is being lined up as Cena's potential opponent.
I don't want to see Taker so beyond his glorious best.
If Cena beat Taker he would be booed out of the place and if Taker beat Cena, Cena would then be even further away from his record breaking title. I just can't see a benefit for either wrestler.
I hate to say it, but I can see Cena muscling into the Styles/ Nakamura match.
2.) 01 Mar 2018 11:04:11
I don't want to see Taker face anyone but Cena at this point.
I keen to let Owens face Zayne at Wrestlemania, their story has been incredible, its almost a shame that at his point they've come full circle, I'd let them be in a tag match this year and have the turn midway through next year to build to a big match at 35, its going to be swept under the rug at 34.
I will be surprised if Rey gets a featured match at Mania, perhaps a run in on whomever wins the CW title, or a Andre Battle Royal spot, but surly not a singles match.
I don't see Corbyn or Ziggler making the show either unless they make some sort of 6 pack challenge for the US title.
3.) 04 Mar 2018 14:03:30
I wouldn't say its lazy booking, its always a problem with the PPV's in between RR and Wm. Most of us have at least a good idea of what the Mania card will be so it can be fairly easy to call the bigger matches at Elimination Chamber and Fastlane. Personally I think Fastlane will be ok and I'm quite looking forward to Mania. I made my peace a long time ago with the fact that it is going to be Roman going over Brock in the main event. I've got no beef with Reigns, other than I don't like Superman booking, but they've calmed down with that the last year or so. It will probably be a good match and we are probably getting Taker v Cena which is about 5 years too late but will still have a big match feel. We are also getting Styles v Nakamura, which i'm guessing is the match people are looking forward to most. I also.
4.) 04 Mar 2018 14:22:57
I also think the (likely) triple threats for the IC Title and the Smackdown tag titles should be good.
5.) 04 Mar 2018 16:55:23
Well, Cena won't face Mysterio as Rey suffered a bad injury torn biceps -that will require surgery.
I agree with Monkeyman that any match between Cena and Taker is way too late. I remember all too well how slow Taker looked against Reigns at Mania 33 which was incredibly sad to watch.
Cena can still give us a memorable match. I just don't think it should be with the Undertaker.
6.) 05 Mar 2018 10:47:48
I have read in a few places that Taker started DDP yoga after his post Mania surgeries last year and is allegedly feeling it again. Obviously that's kind of speculation, but word is this might not even be his last one if he can find a new level of fitness.
I am happy with Mania all in, it nearly always delivers fr beginning to end.
It is a shame that the card is so predictable years out, but that's what comes from 30 years of watching the show, and reading everyone's theories online.

Got to say after watching Jericho vs Omega. Jericho is undoubtedly one of the greatest of all time. His heel work throughout the match was phenomenal. Easily in the top 5 best ever for me.
1.) 05 Jan 2018 10:32:40
Jericho is having some incredible years, I think he has been a true freak, a cruiserweight, that got a proper education on the indys, worked in Japan, Mexico, ECW, WCW, and WWE, and kept himself fit, or in many ways in better shape than his "prime years".
Nobody else has survived from that period with his body of work, maybe HHH, but I doubt the games ability to put on a match of the level we've seen from Jericho consistently in the last 18 months.
Jericho has been able to knit all this in with his music, so that he has earned a fortune and finds himself in a situation of being able to do what he likes.
There is probably more to come. Y2J now has young rivals in the two biggest companies in the world, so who knows where his next match will be?
I won't be surprised to see him at Mania.
2.) 05 Jan 2018 14:09:01
A point I missed is that he came up in the era where the WWE didn't bury you for being a cruiserweight. I'd expect to see more guys last longer as time goes on, because a 6 foot 230lb guy doesn't wear his joints like those 6'7 320lb beasts that were the standard in the 80's and 90's.
I think top stars are factoring a part time contract in before they accept retirement these days.
Kane, Taker, Show, HHH, Cena, Shane, all sound like they are going to have more matches.
Batista, Bryan, Goldberg, Lesnar, Rob Van Dam, maybe even Rey may still have "legends runs"
3.) 05 Jan 2018 21:22:39
I do enjoy watching Jericho and he is definitely an all time great. But he would not make my top 5. Top work against Omega though.
I know it is all subjective and mine will probably not be agreed by anyone, some of them never actually won the big prize, but for pure enjoyment my 5 are:
5. Ricky Steamboat, 4. Edge, 3. Shawn Michaels, 2. Taker and 1, the much missed and never replaced Rick Rude.

Great shout on Rick Rude there Coys, always been a fan of his. Anyone who can carry Warrior to two good matches has to be an all time great.
My top 5 which does change depending on mood is currently this.
5-Taker. 4-Jericho. 3-Ric Flair. 2-Macho Man. 1-Bret Hart.
6.) 08 Jan 2018 10:06:10
My top 5 can change like the wind, some days I like big events over worked matches, then others I am all about star power and promo.
How do you compare Kane to Ric Flair?
My top ten could easily be turned on its head and still be decent. lolz.
02 Mar 2017 11:23:37
After watching Smackdown, does anyone else get the impression they could use the situation with Wyatt and Orton to turn Wyatt face.
Orton acted and looked like a total heel. He invaded someones property and burnt there place of worship to the ground. All the while being calm yet maniacal at the same time. His facial expression at the end was pure evil heel Orton.
Then there's Wyatt in the arena having a breakdown, crying and coming off as a sympathetic character for the first time in his run.
It could be me totally misreading it, but I felt Wyatt came across more as face than Orton here.
Thoughts?
1.) 02 Mar 2017 11:47:13
My thought was desecrating the grave and burning down someone's shed is not exactly face move material.
2.) 02 Mar 2017 14:08:26
A lot of the biggest faces of the past basically acted like heels. Austin, Rock, Shawn, HHH etc all acted like heels while they were face. I'm glad they're avoiding the goody 2 shoes cookie cutter type of face (that should be the sole preserve of Cena for now, and even he isn't as goody 2 shoes as before)
3.) 02 Mar 2017 15:27:12
I thought it was major heel by Orton, i still got a sneaky feeling that Rowan is going to show up very soon.
4.) 02 Mar 2017 18:15:28
I hope they go the Wyatt-Face Orton-Heel, route. The WWE and fans continually seem to forget that Orton Face runs don't go well. Plus It'd hopefully lead to a Face-Wyatt vs Heel-Ambrose feud.
5.) 02 Mar 2017 20:28:31
It is very hard for someone who has set fire to s supposedly real tomb to be classified as a face. Only in wrestling which can be very odd at times.
6.) 03 Mar 2017 09:20:35
It would have been pretty special if Rowan had turned up to stop Orton, or even emerged from the flaming shed as it went off air.
17 Feb 2017 11:16:38
Touch of class by John Cena on Smackdown, as Wyatt was pinning him (clean for the second consecutive time) you can hear Cena say 'You're the real champion now' or something similar.
Nice touch I thought shows it's not just the fans who think Wyatt deserves his run with the belt.
1.) 17 Feb 2017 12:06:19
The fact its heard on camera isn't very good, but he is one of genuine nice guys.
Regularly goes out of his way to live up to the image he portrays.

3.) 17 Feb 2017 12:22:08
AJ Styles has done a couple of interviews since and he has said that Cena planned a lot of the match and made sure it was in Wyatts favour. People may have a go at Cena but over the past 12 - 18 months he has started to pass the torch quite well. Clean wins for Owens,
Styles and Wyatt which has really established them.
4.) 17 Feb 2017 12:28:30
X pac has come out and said that cena insisted that bray went over again. It was all said out back.
He must be in clark kent mode at the moment, he always seemed a nice guy.
5.) 17 Feb 2017 12:41:42
Yeah I've never been a fan of SuperCena, always thought he was being protected ala Hogan. But the last few years he's really grown on me as clearly unlike Hogan he uses his backstage influence for the betterment of the product and not his personal vanity.
I like how well he's put over Wyatt, Styles and Owens. Even the manner of his loss to Lesnar. Putting them over is one thing but putting them over clean and ensuring they look strong is really classy.
6.) 17 Feb 2017 17:54:41
It's nice to see in the moment, but it won't matter much if Bray just ends up losing to Orton.
I'll start celebrating people getting put over, when it starts happening in big matches at Mania.
7.) 17 Feb 2017 20:34:13
Wow. A John Cena love-in. He is disappearing to Hollywood again and there was no question of him retaining. In fact, the WWE pushed through number 16 before he goes.
It would have made far more sense for Styles to retain at the Rumble and then for him to lose it at the Chamber.
I have no doubt that he will eventually beat Flair's record. Cena hasn't changed his spots overnight and I suspect he has only really become more popular the more they have pushed Reigns down our throats.
8.) 17 Feb 2017 21:14:02
Randy Orton requested that he works with Bray and the whole Wyatt thing, so I'd be really surprised if he goes over at mania. If he does then that's all down to Vince. I personally think Bray will have that title for a long time.
9.) 18 Feb 2017 08:19:37
Personally I hope Wyatt retains. From all the rumours I've read it seems like he will too. As others have said Orton requested to work with Wyatt as he recognised how stale his character had become.
He has also stated many times he prefers being a heel. So what if he somehow recruits Harper and Rowen and takes over the family turning Wyatt face.
10.) 18 Feb 2017 19:56:02
Surely Wyatt has to retain at WM? It would be a huge mistake if Orton goes over. It's time for them to build Wyatt as a legit main event player. Give him a long and dominant reign and only have him drop it to your top face (which by that time should be AJ Styles)
I'd like to see Wyatt feud with Orton, Ambrose, Cena and even Harper. Give him a decent reign and then when it's time for a change give AJ a face run with the belt.
11.) 18 Feb 2017 20:15:43
In fairness John cena comes across as a really nice guy and probably is, interesting fact he holds the record for make a wish foundation charity appearances (by a loooong distance as well) .
As for trying to break Hollywood fair enough! Has achieved everything in wrestling and perhaps the WWE is backing him as not only has he made them an unseen amount of money, but was purely off his hard work!
12.) 18 Feb 2017 21:20:29
Sorry just double checked that stat. I was wrong. his done 500.

Meltzer reporting that this is the current card for WM prior to Raw on Monday.
WWE Universal Championship
Goldberg (c) vs. Brock Lesnar
WWE Championship
Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Randy Orton
RAW Women's Championship
Charlotte (c) vs. Bayley vs. Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax
Roman Reigns vs. The Undertaker
Seth Rollins vs. Triple H
Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho
AJ Styles vs. Shane McMahon
John Cena & Nikki Bella vs. The Miz & Maryse
The Big Show vs. Shaquille O'Neal
Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal
Obviously few things jump out-
First- Seth might not make it due to injury so I'm guessing that match changes or gets replaced.
Second- No IC, US, Smackdown womens or either tag titles on the line. Apparently this line up includes the pre show too so theses titles are just not important to management by the looks of it.
Third- How many deserving guys are missing. Ambrose, Zyan, Corbin, Strowman (guessing all in the Andre Jobber Battle Royal) to name a few. I also think Joe must be on the card somewhere after showing up Monday.
Final thoughts- I understand the thinking behind the top two matches- Push Bray into top tier (finally). Adds edge to a third Lesnar, Goldberg match (maybe Lesnar's career vs Goldberg's title).
I also get Taker V Reigns (trying once more to force him down our throats as 'the guy'. Just hope there's no passing of the torch, but there is a Reigns heel turn either before or during the match.
KO v Jericho - also makes sense it's been set up for ages, be nice if the title was on the line but guessing Jericho loses it before (maybe they cost each other their respective titles to set up the match).
So top half looks sound and logical (if not overly inspired). It's the lower half that I just don't get- Styles v Shane, why? OK it could be seen as management being high on AJ giving him a match against the boss' son and it will probably be entertaining but I just don't get it from a storyline perspective.
Cena is leaving after Mania for a few months hence dropping the title prior to it, so I ask why the hell make a big deal out him getting number 16? He's going to lose it at EC so all it's done is make Styles look weaker prior to Mania. Would have made more sense for Styles to lose it at EC to Bray. You still set up Bray v Orton and could have used it to set up Style's opponent he wants revenge on the guy who cost him his title (would work even if they still went with Shane as Styles blames him for putting him in the match in the first place).
Also this match does nothing for Cena, seems like it's designed purely to put over Total Divas. I just don't get it.
Big Show V Shaq? WHY? no-one cares I'd sooner Ambrose V Corbin no DQ for the IC title.
Sorry for the long post guys, what are your thoughts? I'm hoping Meltzer is wrong as usual.
1.) 03 Feb 2017 20:18:03
Good post Papa. It all sounds about right for the card. That's pretty disappointing if you ask me. The most annoying thing is how close it could have been to a great card.
Just a few tweaks and different types of booking over the last few months and the card could be great.
Cena v Taker either for the title or not
Reigns v Samoa Joe
Balor v Joe, Owens, Zayn, Ambrose etc
They could have saved AJ V Cena for Mania and then inserted Taker into the Goldberg Lesnar feud (if they'd booked Brock to get his wing back at the Rumble)
Rollins could have faced HHH at the Rumble. Reigns could have beat Owens for the title with Jericho costing Owens (I don't like it but bear with me) Then have Ambrose win the Rumble but challenge for the Universal Title. Have Rollins beat Reigns at Fastlane and then Reigns gets his rematch at WM. SHIELD Triple threat for the Universal Title at WM. Have Owens face Jericho for the US Title. And a mixture of the other matches mentioned above.
Only a few weeks ago we were all saying how exciting the Rumble was and how there was lots of different ways they can go. If ut ends up being the card you mentioned (as seems likely then that will Be a huge let down. It had so much promise and it's gone a bit flat in a matter or weeks.
2.) 03 Feb 2017 20:50:48
I forgot to add that one good thing to come from it could be Wyatt getting the title at EC. I just hope the let him go over Orton at WM. Even if it's from interference from Harper I'd be fine with that. They could easily explain that with Bray cutting a promo about having to let the snake get close and bite you to be able to grab it and finally kill it. That could lead to matches further down the line between AJ and Orton for number one contender and then AJ v Wyatt which should be good.
3.) 04 Feb 2017 01:58:39
My workable Dream Card for Mania.
*Ambrose (c) vs Cena WWE title match.
*Goldberg vs Lesnar.
*Orton vs Undertaker, retirement match. HHH as special ref.
*Styles vs Nakamura.
*Owens (c) vs Jericho (c) vs Joe vs Balor and/ or Zayn, 2 falls match for the U. S. and Universal titles.
*Bray vs Harper vs Corbin, for the vacant IC title.
*Strowman vs Reigns.
*Miz vs Shane.
*RAW tag title match.
*RAW womens title match.
*SD womens title match.
Pre-show
*CW title match.
*SD tag title match.
*Andre Battle Royal featuring Big Show and Shaq.
*Multiwoman tag match.
4.) 04 Feb 2017 12:54:26
2 things spring to my mind.
I hate the idea of Goldberg being Universal champ and facing Lesnar for the title. They are both basically part timers and it is a smack in the face for all the wrestlers who are there week in week out. They don't need a title to be at stake for this match.
Wyatt as WWE champ however is a great idea. Someone new with the charisma to back it all up.
5.) 04 Feb 2017 16:09:15
Owens is set to face Lesnar at a live event like the week after Fastlane. I'd like to see them have Goldberg brush off Lesnar's Mania request and go after the title at Fastlane. With Strowman and Reigns getting put in the title match as well. Making it Strowman vs Reigns vs Goldberg vs KO at FL. Reigns and Strowman take each other out and Lesnar sneak attacks Goldberg. Allowing Owens to pin Goldberg. When they do Owens vs Lesnar at the live event, Goldberg returns the favor. Finally accepting Lesnar's request for a Mania match right after. WWE shows footage from the event, making it cannon. Owens gets his own version of "I beat Rock and Stone Cold in the same night. " With "I beat Lesnar and Goldberg in the same week/ month. "

Can someone explain the logic in Cena going over Owens. Great match but why does SuperCenaShovel need to come out. The list of guys whose momentum has just hit a brick wall when they run into Cena is disgusting
24 Sep 2018 21:41:14
Why are we still talking about female wrestlers in terms of hotness? Is it still the 1990's?
Surely we should ask who the most under-rated female wrestler is in terms of actual wrestling ability.
Always thought Nattie Neidhart was never really allowed to showcase her talent properly.
24 Jun 2018 08:03:23
RIP Vader. One of the best big men I've seen. Some great matches in Japan and WCW, just a shame backstage politics influenced his WWF run.
08 May 2018 21:16:53
The only good thing about Backlash (besides Rollins) is that people actually left during the Reigns match. Surely WWE have to pay attention to that.
28 Apr 2018 10:46:21
Legend.
28 Apr 2018 10:46:06
McIntyre looks a beast hopefully he can get a main event push. I love Gable but think his lack of height will hold him back.
As for the Saudi tour, I can see why WWE would want to exploit the market but I can't look past their human rights record and misogynistic attitudes (must be the feminist liberal lefty egalitarian in me) . I think it is the responsibility of organisations such as WWE to take stand and influence the next generation in those countries. Likewise I feel that the next two world cups should be boycotted.
